Overview

Panchakarma is the purification therapy done in Ayurveda. The word Panchakarma means five actions and refers to five procedures intended to intensively cleanse and restore balance to the body, mind, and emotions. The five methods are:- Vamanam (emesis), Virechanam (Purgation), Nasyam ( Nasal Cleansing), Niruha Vasthi (Medicated decoction enema), Anuvasana Vasthi (Medicated oil enema) Depending on the health problem, one or more of these methods are used to cleanse the body and promote healing. Benefits include cleansing of the body, elimination of toxins, opening up of blocked channels, improving the strength of digestive fire, regulating metabolism, relaxing the mind and boosting immunity. A special diet is required with personalised yoga sessions for better success.

An initial step of preparation known as Purva Karma involves oil massages and steam treatments to release toxins and get the body ready for expulsion. Vamana (therapeutic vomiting), Virechana (purgation), Basti (medicated enema), Nasya (nasal administration of herbal oils), and Raktamokshana (bloodletting or detoxification of the blood) are the five basic Panchakarma procedures.

These techniques help the body get rid of accumulated toxins (ama) from various tissues and channels while focusing on the underlying causes of imbalances. Deep cleansing, regeneration, and the restoration of the body's inherent healing capacities are all promoted by panchakarma therapy. It is frequently advised for those with chronic illnesses, metabolic conditions, illnesses brought on by stress, and people who want to maintain their general wellness.
