Overview

Nowadays, most of people are physically inactive and most of the time, busy on phones and computers. Unusual positions for a long time give rise to degenerative (wearing away) diseases. Cervical spondylosis is one such spinal problem.

The bones, discs, and joints of the neck are affected by cervical spondylosis, sometimes referred to as cervical osteoarthritis. It frequently happens as a result of the cervical spine's alterations in spinal structures brought on by aging-related wear and tear.

In cervical spondylosis, the ligaments and joints may thicken or produce bony growths known as bone spurs, while the discs between the vertebrae may thin out and lose their suppleness. The spinal nerves and the spinal cord itself may get compressed or irritated as a result of these alterations, causing a variety of symptoms.

Neck pain, stiffness, and a decreased range of motion are common signs of cervical spondylosis. Pain that spreads to the hands, arms, and shoulders is possible. It is frequently accompanied by tingling, numbness, and weakening. Additionally possible symptoms include headaches and upper back and neck muscle spasms.

Age, prior neck injuries, repetitive neck movements, poor posture, and genetic factors are all risk factors for cervical spondylosis. Physical therapy, pain management methods, medicines, and in extreme circumstances, surgical intervention are all available as treatment alternatives.
