Overview

Lukewarm herbal oils are poured into a cap fitted on the head and held for 15 to45 minutes per day according to the patient's conditions. This treatment is highly effective for facial paralysis, dryness of nostrils, mouth and throat, severe headaches, mental disorders and other diseases of the head.

A ancient Ayurvedic medicinal treatment called shirovasthi involves putting medicated oil on the head. It is derived from the Sanskrit terms "Shiro" and "Vasthi," which both mean "container" in English. During this technique, the head is sealed up with a specific cap or cylindrical container.

Warm herbal oil is placed into the jar; the oil is chosen particularly for each person based on their dosha (constitution) and state of health. The entire nervous system is relaxed and rejuvenated as the oil is allowed to permeate and feed the scalp and hair follicles. Usually, it lasts for a predetermined amount of time—from 30 minutes to several hours.

Shirovasthi is well known for its medicinal advantages, which include easing tension, anxiety, and insomnia. Numerous neurological conditions, including as migraines, headaches, and facial paralysis, can be effectively treated with it. The heated oil improves mental clarity, increases blood circulation, and helps with scalp-related problems including dandruff and hair loss.

To ensure safety and efficacy, this Ayurvedic therapy should be provided by qualified professionals and requires experience. It is frequently suggested as a component of an extensive Ayurvedic treatment programme created specifically to address the individual's particular health requirements.
